usb memory

hello, I have decided to dload and install vista rc2 on my second system, i
remember reading that it was supposed to boot far faster than xp, thanks to
it reading the boot drivers etc from a usb memory stick. Is this the case,
and if so, what size of a usb drive is recommended (i have a 1GB one)
thanks!

Re: usb memory

Hi Carl,

You may want to read this:
http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...b87761033.mspx

This is only really useful when there is a lot of paging going on. Generally
that happens with systems that have a minimal amount of ram, or if the user
does a lot of intense graphics work.

Re: usb memory

Don't think a USB stick comes into play regarding booting up... Vista does
appear to boot faster than XP, but a USB stick has nothing to do with that,
unless I'm sorely mistaken.

Recommended size, last time I looked, was 1:1. Gotta gig of RAM on your PC?
Dedicate a gig of RAM on your thumb drive. Could go up to 1:1.5, i.e., gotta
gig of RAM... dedicate 1.5 gigs on a USB stick.
