Problems with Vista/USB/Removable Storage/Ebook Reader all one problem

Alright I have a Sony PRS-505 and Windows Vista, I plugged it into USB
and it started popping up with a million windows saying "do you want to
scan and fix removable disk" and assigns each window with a different
drive letter in "my computer" and then I wind up with tons of removable
storages with different drive letters. Then only way to stop it is just
to unplug my ebook reader from the USB and exit out of all the windows,
please any help would be great. This never has happened before and no
changes have happened since the last time I had it plugged into my
laptop, also I plugged it into my work computer (XP) and it did not do
this, it opened up a window that had my database and tmp folder in it.
Also, I have no memory cards in the reader, just it's internal memory.
Any help would be sincerely and greatly appreciated. thank you.
