DVD Word Processing Recording

Please help! I obtained a 64 bit Vista Home HP Pavillion 9700 Laptop; the idea was, I would write data to the DVD drive, on RW discs, then insert in my PC - but when I wish to make changes on same, am told the Disc is 'Read-Only.'
(1)) Please dear brilliant souls, let me know how to revise anything to the DVD disc...
(2) Also, I've learned unfortunately of Vista's incompatibility with printers - I've got a great, cheap, light, compatct black and white Canon BJ-100 - its cord doesn't match with 'inlets' on the laptop, and isn't likely compatible with Vista. Any ideas, please!
~ Cheers, and thanks for your consideration of my requests ~ Tom P.

Re: DVD Word Processing Recording

Just to clear something up.

Your printer cable (on your 15 year old printer) does not match any ports on
your computer and you consider that to be Vista's fault?

How so? It was your responsibility as an "informed" consumer to be certain
that you purchased something compatible - or at least know that your
dinosaur had to be retired.

Maybe it's time to purchase a new printer.

I suspect your Canon has a Parallel cable
and your laptop has a USB port...maybe a
Parallel to USB Adapter Cable would be
worth a try.

I'm thinking your main problem would be
drivers...the most recent driver available is
for Windows ME.
