| Vista Home Premium 32bit | A few missing .exe's I try to create a restore point on my computer. Nothing works. Here's a picture ![]() ![]() as you can see, the last 2 tabs (Restore | Remote) are both gone. i've tried going to The Storage Team at Microsoft - File Cabinet Blog : Why is my System Protection tab missing?, which seemed to be my case. Quote: A customer recently sent us a screenshot of System Properties in Control Panel showing that his System Protection tab was missing. Launching the tab by its executable, SystemProtectionProperties.exe, did not launch the tab, either. In this case, the customer’s IT group had disabled System Restore using Group Policy. You can check whether this is the case by looking in the registry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore\DisableSR. If that value exists and is non-zero, then System Restore is completely disabled and you won’t see the System Protection tab. ![]() it seems my computer is allergic to system restores .__. And SystemPropertiesProtection.exe doesnt launch the tab. It opens the System Properties window (above) Thanks (: Last edited by oondric; 05-02-2009 at 11:34 PM.. |

| | Re: A few missing .exe's Might be a per user setting eg something under HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows NT\SystemRestore\ as opposed to the machine wide settings. A thorough search of the registry for 'DisableSR' ('Edit > Find' from the regedit menus, after clicking on 'Computer') may turn up fruit elsewhere. -- Jon "oondric" <guest@xxxxxx-email.com> wrote in message news:4e943f31beb26e2434c8133729f55913@xxxxxx-gateway.com...
