IE has stopped working?

I have Windows Visa, Home Basic, and sometimes when I go to a web page (Drudgereport, etc) and click on a link there I receive the message... " IE has stopped working - A problem caused the program to stop working. Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available. and a 'close program' box is there.
When I click ' close program,, the process continues... Any help/advice
most appreciated. Thanks. Sally Jane

Re: IE has stopped working?

Have you tried running IE8 in no-addons mode? Right click on the Internet
icon in the Start menu or from Accessories-System Tools. If the problem
disappears you can try running normally and disable add-ons one at a time
until you find the culprit. Sometimes 3rd party software that blocks scripts
or links can cause issues to.. check that any AV, anti-spyware and other
such being used are compatible with IE8. (page loads Okay here BTW)

I recall this happening to me at one point in time and simply closed the
page by clicking the exit button and starting over. Then everything was all
right, leading me to think my trigger finger on the mouse was a little too
quick.
See whether this works for you.

Harry.

What RalfG said.

And if you're still having problems after that - what's the fault data for
the crash according to the Problem Reports and Solutions control panel under
"View Problem History"?

Re: IE has stopped working?

argyliz,

You should try the step-by-step guide on the Internet Explorer website
that diagnoses your problem and determines how to fix it. Go to
'Internet Explorer stops responding, stops working, or restarts'
(http://support.microsoft.com/gp/pc_ie_intro) and click the links that
correspond to the symptoms of your IE crashes.

Hope this helps,

- Jake
