Why has Notepad not been updated?

Isn't it about time it was replaced with something like Notepad2
http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html or some other Notepad replacement
that opens just as fast as Notepad but has more features?

Also, why isn't "Send to Notepad" included in the SendTo menu by default?
I certainly use tha more than "Send to Fax" or "Send to Floppy"!

Re: Why has Notepad not been updated?

It was updated long ago and called Wordpad. It is under Accessories as
usual.

Just type "wordpad" into Start Menu's search bar, wait a half second.
hit enter.

Notepad was never intended to be a full-featured text editor. As others
have pointed out, you can always use Wordpad.

Of course, if your next question is "why don't they update Wordpad", my
answer would be "why don't they just include Word with the OS".

The question is, where do you draw the line? Thus, this bring me back to my
original point...Notepad is just a "good enough" utility to make a quick
change to a plain text file, edit settings, etc and nothing more. You can
always replace it why any number of freeware editors.

They do. It's called WordPad. But many many people (myself not
included) love the simplicity of Notepad.

I never use the "send to" menu for anything. I never have. As far as
files go, I'm an "open with" kinda guy.

And personally, my favorite Notepad replacement is Notepad++

It's free and Open Source.

A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
