| | Need help restoring XP on my Dell laptop I've had my first experience with Vista and I enjoyed the OS, more or less, but I need to get back to XP's functionality for right now. Mainly my issues lie in photoshop. I create a lot of art for websites and my mouse continues to jump uncontrollably around the canvas. I've searched for help with this and just can't find it, so my only hope using photoshop regularly again is returning to the XP OS. The only problem is that I have no Windows XP OS Disc. My Dell laptop has a function called "Dell PC Restore" on it which returns the computer to it's factory sealed condition; the condition it was in when I first got it out of the box. The only problem is that it requires you to push CTRL+F11 during a screen on the boot sequence; a screen that I don't see anymore. I see the screen that says "DELL" on it when I startup, but after that there used to be a screen that said "www.dell.com" and this is the screen I need to get to. Unfortunately, since I've had Vista, I've not seen that screen. Any help would be great. Many Thanks, JR |

| | Re: Need help restoring XP on my Dell laptop An excellent website explaining your issue and how to fix it is posted here: http://www.goodells.net/dellrestore/ Also, Ghost 8.0 or above can read and restore the images from the restore partition withou using the dell restore program. Finally, if you need a copy of the Dell MBR (you'll know after you read the above website) post here and I or someone else will email it to you. -Mike "Joe Rodino" <Joe Rodino@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:792D4024-6FEF-4365-B524-2ECA8F028C65@microsoft.com... > I've had my first experience with Vista and I enjoyed the OS, more or > less, > but I need to get back to XP's functionality for right now. > > Mainly my issues lie in photoshop. | | Re: Need help restoring XP on my Dell laptop Wow, what an excellent writing style and command of knowledge! Thanks for that link. I've heard of Dan Goodell but never had occasion to read anything of his, but now he's on my short list of advisors.
