'AskWoody.com' (http://www.askwoody.com)

New Windows user (Mac mainly) and the best advice I've had is to
disable auto updates and check that site after a new release has been
out for a week or two.

One of the things about *any* such Windows service pack is that it
improves security. One of the reasons you should install it even if it
"ain't broke" is that it can prevent it from getting "broke."

Re: Service Pack 1

SP2 RTM has not been released for "public" download - available via Technet
or MSDN.
