| | deleting Backup files after restore Thanks to multiple problems both "Ed" and Vista , I finally decided to do a restore. Well Vista give me no option but to save a bunch of files that I had already backup and didn't want. What I wanted was a reformat and put the OS back up. LIke XP. What I got was 11 Gig of disk tied up with Windows.000 I went out and tried to delete the file. No Authority. Well I running as Admin. So looked at Properties. It has "Read Only" checked. So I cleared that. Tried Deleting again and still won't release entire file. It kept saying I need authoriztion. I running as Admin, what more do I need? I tried Safe Mode, CMD Dos and Cut and Paste to external drive. The first two didn't work and now I have a copy of Windows.000 on external drive. I tried take a folder or a program within a folder one at a time. No luck So How the hell do you delete these worthless files???? Yes, I could do stand alone format c: and then have a clean drive. But that is a little over kill. Is their something dumb i missing???? Thanks In Advance Ed |

| | Re: deleting Backup files after restore It was in the type of restore you chose, not a clean restore but a parallel, which kept a copy of your old installation "Ed" <sathered@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:id2e155v27u5th4nu4jqdo0bksf2rb4rbq@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks to multiple problems both "Ed" and Vista , I finally decided to > do a restore. | | Re: deleting Backup files after restore Hi Ed-- If you right click the folder>properties>security tab> you can get permissions with your profile or add "users" as an additional profiile, and check all boxes and you should be able to do what you want to that folder. You can also follow this link: http://www.tipandtrick.net/2008/how-...ders-in-vista/ CH "Ed" <sathered@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:id2e155v27u5th4nu4jqdo0bksf2rb4rbq@xxxxxx Quote: > Thanks to multiple problems both "Ed" and Vista , I finally decided to > do a restore.
