| Guest | Windows Vista Locks up. Well, it's been happening from builds 5112 and up. Until 5384 and later, I used to get a lock up with a high pitched sound coming from my speakers EVERY time. Now, it's been more stable. But, it happens still. Now, it is held in two main areas. Video viewing and 3D Gaming. It sucks that when you rant on a game, Windows locks up. Now, Here's the deal. I have tried to disable Aero and see if it works. Nothing. It wouldn't do. I try installing DX9, and it does work for the session. After, forget it. It will do it again. Now, other users are saying that the CPU or graphicas card overheats. Well, with an idle temperature of 36C and at most 50C, I won't say it overheating for a Prescott. The video card is doubtfully overheating as I get no artifacting. I did implement a fan to it to replace stock heatsink. Laast night, I decided to look at my BIOS for fun and I found that EHCI Stop for OHCI handover. The description was to disable this feature for OSes that does not support EHCI. IS Vista EHCI compliant? If that's the case, what's wrong or COULD be wrong? Specs for the PC: Intel Pentium 4 3.0GHZ 800FSB ASUS P4S800D-X 1GB RAM Kingston Dual Chanel DDR400 Aopen Geforce FX 5200 160GB Maxtor HDD 10.2GB Fujitsu HDD LG GSA-4163 DVD-RAM drive CD 52X CD drive. | Guest | Re: Windows Vista Locks up. Okay, I shall try this one more time. I'll need to install it first as well! to the user who asked for newer BIOS: I do have a newer, but it is a Beta BIOS and I am not daring to try this. Crucial and dangerous.
