Windows 7 release date confirmed

Windows 7 is scheduled to be released Oct 22/09. This includes
pre-installed, and stand alone retail packages.

For those who insist on URL references:

http://www.microsoft.com/presspass/f...genheimer.mspx

As Windows Server 2008 R2 is a joint development effort with Windows 7 we are
aligned with the same RTM and General Availability (GA) dates.

With that - Windows Server 2008 R2 RTM code is on track to be available to
our partners sometime in the 2nd half of July.

Re: Windows 7 release date confirmed

But Windows 7 is built on the Windows Vista kernel so how are you getting
rid of Vista? Anyone who thinks that Windows 7 signals the end of Vista is
deluded. Windows 7 is Windows Vista with extra eye candy.

Re: Windows 7 release date confirmed

Two different car models can share the same car engine design (which is a
widely used model now) but that doesn't mean they are two identical cars.

It's a very shallow argument especially from someone with a tag.

The mind boggles at the very thought.

I'm also amused by those who seem to think that Win7 will work on
machines that already can't handle WinV...

Re: Windows 7 release date confirmed

And, back in the 60's, next years model would have different tail fins and a
different paint scheme - yet cost hundreds more. People bought them without
any question as a new model/version, gladly paying the difference. I saw my
parents go through this time and again.
