Ghosting / Imaging Vista?

Hi,

I have a new Dell machine capable of running Vista, but none of the Acronis
9 or Ghost can image the drives or see the new hard drives installed.

Anybody had any success on doing this?

Thanks

Excellent results with Image For Windows, installed on a separate XP drive.

I use Ghost 2003, boot it from a floppy (or bootable cd) and have made
images and disk clones of 98SE, ME, XP Home and Vista 64 bit (RC1).

RE: Ghosting / Imaging Vista?

You say that True Image can not see the new hard drives that are installed on
your Dell. From you post it sounds like you are still running XP so what is
your hardware configuration? True Image 9 works just fine with XP but not
with Vista.

I have been beta testing True Image Home version 10 with Vista and it works
just fine. Version 10 includes a number of new options that would warrant
purchasing the upgrade even if you aren't planning on upgrading to Vista. I
suspect that it will be ready for release about the time that Microsoft rolls
out Vista.

Re: Ghosting / Imaging Vista?

How are you running the imaging programs? Boot floppy or boot CD? What kind
of drives do you have? I.e., IDE, SATA, etc...

RE: Ghosting / Imaging Vista?

Can You give me some input on using Acronis 10 with a duel boot
configuration? I made the mistake of installing acronis 10 to the XP drive in
a duel boot system instead of the vista drive. When I installed it to the
vista drive it won't run. It does run in the XP drive. (am using the trial
version). If I uninstall it from the XP drive and install it on the vista
drive what are the chances that it will work on the vista drive? Any
suggestions will be appreciated.

Re: Ghosting / Imaging Vista?

Can one ghost from one OS with 100% certainty that the other OS being
ghosted will be robust?

For example ghost from XP on Vista drive, ghost from Vista on XP drive?

RE: Ghosting / Imaging Vista?

Just so we are talking about apples and apples which build did you obtain?
The only build of TI 10 that I had found to be Vista compatible is 4864. The
earlier builds worked fine on XP but failed miserably on Vista. If you
obtained the copy from Acronis then I would assume that it is the latest
build, but if you obtained it from somewhere else then you need to get build
4864 before going any further.

Re: Ghosting / Imaging Vista?

I can tell you that Acronis 9.0 installed in XP images and restores both XP
and Vista. I don't use Ghost, Acronis works so well on my machine.
