Programs won't download from Vista

I currently have XP Professional and Vista Ultimate on a dual boot system on
separate hard drives. I have been unsuccessful at getting any downloads
from Vista. When I select the file to download, it appears to be working
normally. but it fades out and is not installed to the designated file for
saving. In addition, I can not find it anywhere on the Vista drive or the
XP drive, either. Can anyone tell me what the secret is to be able to
download a file from Vista?

It's called "Sandboxing." Your downloads are redirected to a virtual folder
buried deep in the tree of your "User" folder.

Re: Programs won't download from Vista

Others seem to be getting downloads correctly/ They specify where the file
is to be "saved" and it is downloaded there. Any idea of how I can
accomplish this?

Re: Programs won't download from Vista

How are you downloading, with IE or some download manager? Did you set a
destination folder prior to downloading?

If you can't find it, try looking in the following folders. Just copy and
past the path into an address bar and make sure to change You to your user
name.

C:\Users\You\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet
Files\Virtualized

Re: Programs won't download from Vista

I believe if you're talking about internet explorer downloads...

They're saved in something like C:\USERS\username\Downloads -- Have you
looked there?

Re: Programs won't download from Vista

I am downloading with IE. I have downloaded to several files but have
mostly been using C:\Users\Downloads

Re: Programs won't download from Vista

Finally an answer: Apparently when Vista was downloaded either I couldn't
or it didn't load upgrades to the program when it first starts installation.
Mine was obviously missing something. I did a clean install on the same
disk previously installed to and the system downloads properly now. Thanks
to responders!
