| Guest | Laptop keyboard and touchpad Hi, I am using Windows Vista RC-2 and running into a few problems with my laptop. First of all, the laptop keyboard has "function" keys, which are used by holding down a key that says "Fn" and pressing other keys (like the F1-12 keys) to execute commands. These aren't working at all. There are no drivers specific to my keyboard so I don't know how to go about fixing this. Also, my touchpad is extra sensitive since I installed Vista and it seems to be behaving oddly as well - the scroll buttons below the touchpad don't work at all. I tried installing my Touchpad drivers but even with the compatibility run it didn't work. The other problem I'm having is that I want to reinstall Windows XP from my built-in boot disk, but when I press Alt+F10 at the bootup screen, I get sent to the Windows Vista Boot Manager. How can I access my boot disk again? Thanks in advance. |

| Guest | Re: Laptop keyboard and touchpad Hi Zach, Double dilemma. 1) You need a keyboard driver to support the fn key, it's not standard. The most reliable source is the manufacturer, and if they don't have one (and you *can* try an XP driver instead) then there isn't much you can do about it. 2) You will need to contact the manufacturer for instructions on how to restore the non-standard mbr they used to point the boot to the recovery options, it was overwritten by the Vista bootloader. -- Best of Luck, Rick Rogers, aka "Nutcase" - Microsoft MVP http://mvp.support.microsoft.com/ Windows help - www.rickrogers.org "Zach" <Zach@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:06828223-0262-46F4-8F32-B7625AFF15F9@microsoft.com... > Hi, > > I am using Windows Vista RC-2 and running into a few problems with my > laptop.
