How to recover pc full volume (I've deleted the xp partition by mistake)

Last year I made a partition to install XP (which took 20GB) on my pc
which came with Vista Home Premium, as I'm running low in my main
partition I search "how to delete partition" and followed this:

    # Open Command Prompt.
    # Type:
    diskpart
    # At the DISKPART prompt, type:
    list disk
Make note of the disk number of the disk from which you want to delete
    the partition.
    # At the DISKPART prompt, type:
    select diskn
Select the disk n from which you want to delete the partition.
    # At the DISKPART prompt, type:
    list partition
Make note of the number of the partition that you want to delete.
    # At the DISKPART prompt, type:
    select partitionn
Select the partition n that you want to delete.
    # At the DISKPART prompt, type:
    delete partition

Now the hard disk D: is gone but I still have the same space on C: (I
shouldn't have done it, I know now).

I'd like to fix this! Please help! The only CD I have is Reinstallation
DVD WIndows Vista Home Premium and I think I still have the one for XP.
Is there any way to do this without formating the whole thing???

    Many thanks

    there is software like acronis
    disk director that can "rebuild
    a crashed ntfs" and "restore
    deleted partitions" for a cost.

but in my opinion, it is a very
    good expenditure.

it has been 100% reliable and
    the customer service has been
    great.

    they even provided a free
    upgrade for their xp version
    to vista.

    ------------

unfortunately, I'm not sure if there
are freeware that can do the
    same.

but there are no guarantees when
    it comes to freeware.

however, you can try to do more
    searching with the above
    quoted criterions.

    Hi cathycr,

Would you like to add that 20gb to your Vista partition?

Go to Vista Disk Management - assuming the 20gb unallocated space is on the RIGHT of the Vista partition:

Rt click the Vista partition and select Extend.

There is a tutorial with screenshots here:

    See Step 2

Disk Management - Delete and Extend

    Hope it helps
