| Guest | Vista not very User Friendly Hi, I have been running Vista 5744 and before that RC1. I can not imagine myself living with this OS in it's present state, unless I can have freedom to run some of my own applications like AVG, Alcohol120,Tuneup Utilities etc. It is all fair to say one can use Windows Live Onecare instead, but it simply does not give one enough steering power. I am sure many people will agree that we need to run our preferred software without the continuous intervention of MS. At this stage XP Media Center will remain better for me. Piet |

| Guest | Re: Vista not very User Friendly Piet: Have you contacted the software companies about a compatible version of plans on a compatible version. It's the software companies responsibility to be compatible with Vista. | Guest | Re: Vista not very User Friendly Piet, the latest version of AVG is fully Vista compatible. It is up to the makers of Alcohol120 and Tuneup Utilities to make them compatible with Vista, not the other way around. Bill F. | Guest | Re: Vista not very User Friendly I don't know how everyone is getting the latest AVG to run flawlessly. It says it is Vista ready but unless I install with Xpsp2 compatibility and run as administrator, the resident shield refuses to load. How did you load it? Reboot Right-click your AVG install exe and select "Run as Administrator" (It has been said that you should install in XP compatibility mode but I have not found this necessary) after install has completed, turn on UAC and reboot again AVG works fine for me! |

| Guest | RE: Vista not very User Friendly Then use windows Xp instead. Windows Vista offers nothing more than overpriced eye candy. In your day to day use, ask yourself, What is Vista going to do, that XP cannot do? The answer: Nothing. Except drain $$$ out of your pocket. That money is as good in your pocket as it is Microsoft's. Check out my other threads to see the light of day on this. "Piet Fourie" wrote: > Hi, I have been running Vista 5744 and before that RC1.
