| | Lost my Scanner & Camera Wizard. How do I get it bacK? Until recently, my scanner & camera wizard worked fine when I plugged in my memory card reader. Then it just stopped appearing when I plugged in the device. It just doesn't appear. I have seen other posts about changing registry entries, but I didn't want to mess with that until I was sure. How to I fix this so the scanner & camera wizard will autoplay? -- janeinpa ------------------------------------------------------------------------ janeinpa's Profile: http://forums.techarena.in/members/56154.htm View this thread: http://forums.techarena.in/vista-help/1205176.htm http://forums.techarena.in |

| | Re: Lost my Scanner & Camera Wizard. How do I get it bacK? Sorry, but that doesn't seem to do it. I tried several of the options and nothing happens when I plug in the reader.

Unplug device and do a Power Off of Computer AND Device, wait a minute or two & back on. Reconnect the Device. Any joy? http://windowshelp.microsoft.com/Win...df1033.mspx#EU Start - type services.msc in the search box - click on it at top. Windows Image Acquisition Service - It should normally be set to manual however it should be started if your scanner or camera is hooked up and turned on. This service is dependent on other Services to run properly so check them also as per here : http://www.blackviper.com/WinVista/S...tion_(WIA).htm The Wizard is normally here : "C:\Program Files\Windows Photo Gallery\ImagingDevices.exe" The Windows Picture Acquisition Wizard. C:\Windows\System32\wiaacmgr.exe Has the driver letter for your device changed? Check in Disk Management. Start - type in Disk and run Windows Disk Management with device ON and connected. If you set a Permanent Drive Letter (a high specific one) then you will not need to run the Wizard everytime you reconnect it. See the Vista Section here : http://support.microsoft.com/KB/908673 You might try hooking up Device - Control Panel - Device Manager - if the device is shown DELETE it. Remove Device. Reboot - Plug device back in.
