Vista - Vista Startup sound missing

Hi,
In 5744 the Vista startup sound- Windows Startup.wav isn't working. I go
to sounds;make sure the Vista sounds box is checked;look in the tree-and
it's nowhere to be found. Vista shutdown- Windows Shutdown.wav is listed
under Exit Windows in the Windows default sounds tree;but not the Vista
startup-Windows Startup.wav Nowhere. I'm talking about those specific wav
files;not the xp ones. A bug? any way to put it in?

Any help?

I DO get the windowsstartup.wav when Vista starts.
But like you I do not have an option for enabling or disabling sounds for
Windows Startup.

Hi,
In 5744;in sounds-there is a box that you can check/uncheck for the
vista sounds.
Not sure which build you are using;because; earlier builds didn't have that
option.

If you don't have the dialogue box that is in Nick White's article on the
Vista Team Blog, then either run SFC (System File Checker) or see if running
Startup Repair helps you using the DVD to hit the setup link).

How to Use Startup Repair:

***Accessing Windows RE (Repair Environment):***

1) Insert Media into PC (the DVD you burned)

2) ***You will see on the Vista logo setup screen after lang. options in the
lower left corner, a link called "System Recovery Options."***

4) Its been my experience that you can see some causes of the crash from
theWin RE feature:

You'll have a choice there of using:

1) Startup Repair
2) System Restore
3) Complete PC Restore
