| | Re: Windows 7 RC No one can tell you which one to get. Look at what each one has. Decide your main uses of the operating system. Then see which O/S best matches what you want to use the computer for. Your question is similar to your asking; should I buy a Ford or a Toyota. No one can tell you. -- Richard Urban Microsoft MVP Windows Desktop Experience "John" <linton@xxxxxx> wrote in message news:OQpSh2F$JHA.5780@xxxxxx Quote: >I am using the windows 7 rc right now and planning on upgrading should I >get ultimate? or just home premium. What's the advantage? Home Premium. Get Professional. Professional is Ultimate without BitLocker and 35 built-in languages. That's why Ultimate is only $20 US more than Professional. However, until July 11 in Canada and USA, you can pre-order Home Premium and Professional upgrade versions for half price. Win 7 includes both 32 and 64 bit versions in all retail packages. |

| | Re: Windows 7 RC Off the top of my head: get Professional, but only because it sounds better than 'Home Premium' and you will be taken more seriously. Windows 7 Ultimate will be almost identical to Windows 7 Enterprise. Those two will have only a few extra features over Professional, constellating around security and features of worth only in corporate environments. Ultimate will probably *not* be offering future downloads of extra goodies and games this time 'round, so in all likelihood you will want Professional and it will be the cherry. Each version 'up' is a superset of the one below i.e. it Professional includes everything in Home Premium PLUS extra Professional features. | | Re: Windows 7 RC Afaik, Windows 7 RC is Ultimate only. You won't be able to upgrade to Home Premium unless you do a fresh install. | | Re: Windows 7 RC For my desktop I plan on Professional. Windows Ultimate and Enterprise - which are almost identical this time - have some corporate features over Professional such as bitlocker, but that's about it. This time 'round it is unlikely there will be any Ultimate extras - no games to download, nor any dream scenes etc. etc. So I'm going to run Professional not Ultimate this time. I've already pre-ordered a copy at about 50% off from Amazon.
