| Guest | Problems using Nero 6 and 7 Just done a clean install of 5744 RC2. Everything's working fine, but when I install either Nero 6.6.1.4 or 7.5.7.0, I get an error 'Windows host process (rundll32) has stopped working' and 'COM Surrogate has stopped working' whenever I browse to a folder containing MPEG files. Removing Nero completely fixes the problem. I seem to recall a similar issue being posted here last week |

| Guest | Re: Problems using Nero 6 and 7 I have the same error message when browsing folders containing Xvid or DivX encoded AVIs. I thought the problem started after I installed DivX Player version 6.4. Anyone know of a work around for this? | Guest | Re: Problems using Nero 6 and 7 Do both of you have the Nero Scout turned off? I can use mp4 files and .avi files and things work normally. Have you used the clean tool to remove leftovers? I was going to try it, but I am waiting for the time to run out on the demo. | Guest | RE: Problems using Nero 6 and 7 I had problems with Nero 7 as well and someone here recommended Nero 7 Lite. I wasn't aware of such a program at the time but apparently it has a modified installer that is cut down and is Vista compatible. I've been using it on 5744 without any problems. I mostly only use the Burning Rom part of it so if you use/need the whole suite then you might want to just wait until Nero updates 7 to be fully Vista compatible. Oh, and you will need your Serial number for Lite as well. "Brian Wescombe" wrote: > Just done a clean install of 5744 RC2. | Guest | RE: Problems using Nero 6 and 7 Good news. The wait is over. Nero 7 Ultra Enhanced release Oct 16 seems to now support Vista, well at least in the release notes it says it's Vista Ready now as a new feature so I take it everyone should upgrade to this new version (released last week) and test it on Vista. | Guest | Re: Problems using Nero 6 and 7 I'm using RC1, (downloaded RC2 but could not burn it correctly) Nero 7.5.7.0 installed OK and I've used it to re-format DVD-RW's without problems. Only query I had was it wants to update Direct X but I just said "go ahead" and it works OK. Nero video/sound player works OK Mike Brian Wescombe wrote: > > "Clark" <who@whoknows.com> wrote in message > news:OotYxsu9GHA.4552@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl... >> Another thing I was thinking about was that I did not install the Nero >> Home utility.
