Help! Very simple question from incapable Vista user

Hi all, just to start with i´m not very good at all with computers so if
anyone can help me would be great.

I just reinstalled windows vista home today and at first many things
werent working such as my wireless and my 3d flip...so i searched on
htfc and found out i needed the drivers from the computer maker. Now
after downloading and rebooting, the aero scheme is working which is
great. but the only thing i cant seem to figure out is that toolbar that
hangs and hides up on the desktop, i dont know what its called, i cant
see it, i cant find it. before today i just put my mouse up to the top
of the screen and i could get quick access to whatever i had put up
there. firstly whats it called and how do i get it back?

sorry its such a beginner question...im embarassed to even say how long
it has taken me to get to this stage

First of all, don't apologize for being new with computers. We all have our
areas of expertise.

Unfortunately, there is no default toolbar that comes with Windows that
normally is at the top of the screen unless you have moved your Taskbar
there and set it to Autohide. Is your Taskbar still at the bottom of the
screen? If it is, then the toolbar is a feature of something you installed.
Perhaps sound drivers?

If you can't "catch" it and right-click on it, then start Task Manager to
see what is running. Assuming that your Taskbar is visible at the bottom of
your screen, right-click on an empty area of it and then left-click on Task
Manager. Look at the applications and processes tabs for a likely suspect.
Or you can post back with what you think it is.

Of course, if your Taskbar *isn't* at the bottom of the screen, then let us
know.

They're called 'toolbars' (but you can call them what you like really).

To get it back, just drag whichever folder you like to the top edge of the
screen and release. Then right-click it and check the 'autohide' option.

I understand that Dell computers come with a toolbar of some sort. You
might have to check with Dell support or go to their website, if that is
what you are talking about.

Is your computer a Dell? I think you are describing the Dell Dock. It is
on my Dell/Vista laptops but is not a component of Vista.

Visit 'The Dell Dock, by Stardock : Powered by ObjectDock'
(http://delldock.com) and download it. It is 10MB.

HTH!

Gene E. Bloch already answered you.
If you own a Dell it's called Dell Dock and you'd be better off hitting a
Dell newsgroup or support for your answer. If you don't own a Dell then you
downloaded an aftermarket docking program and you need to contact them.
This had nothing to do with Vista.
