bluescreen with memory dump on startup

I have a new Dell Studio with a Intel Core Duo, 4 GB of Ram, 320 GB HD,
and am running vista 64 bit as my main OS. I have had this problem
before. If I leave it unplugged long enough for the battery to die when
I go to boot the next time I'll get a blue screen and a memory dump
before I even get to the password prompt. In the past, the quick fix I
used was to load the recovery counsole and do a system restore. I need
to find what the cause of the problem is to further prevent and because
I can no longer get to the recovery counsole.
I recsently partitioned my hard drive into three partitians. A primary
partitian that I run vista 64 on and keep most of my documents. The
other two partitians I loaded with windows 7 RC and Server 2008 RC, both
of which I am doing tseting with. My issue now is that when I try to
load the recovery counsole, it takes me back to the top of the boot load
menu (where I can pick which OS I want to load.)

Re: bluescreen with memory dump on startup

I use, support and recommend Dell desktops and laptops, and generally don't
have a problem. If you have a new Dell Studio, then it sounds like the
mainboard battery is non-functioning, defective, or not holding that charge
to keep the bios settings correctly. When you boot back up, the bios
settings are at the factory defaults (at least that's what I'm deducing
based on your description). So, yes you may have to deal with the
warranty/tech support group, but they aren't all that bad. Of course that
depends on the warranty, if it's still in effect. If you made recovery
dvd's when you first got your laptop, all may not be lost, boot up with them
and use those in place of your recovery console. Otherwise, let the tech
support group help you out.

Re: bluescreen with memory dump on startup

Cannot help you unless you post the Stop error number of the BSOD (Blue Screen)
