Vista in total chaos

Ever since I ran 7 updates and an error check at the same time my Vista has been totaly destroyed.
-audio error 1079 (no sound)
-System defrag wont run
-System restore won't run
-The flash drive is corrupt and wont start.
-Computer is twice as slow

The problem is I can't use system restore because it wont start and i can't find the vista cd. Please help me get my computer up to normal. (Audio is my top priority)

With the little info you have given in mind...

What happens when you start in Safe Mode? More information is needed on any
error messages, what updates were run and what error check was run.

Contact manufacturer for rebuild CDs if it comes to that end or use the
computer's built in rebuild program if all else fails, but copy off the data
from the hard drive using another computer first.

My specs are:
32 bit Vista
realtek audia drive

I ran that harddrive error check when you right click your harddrive>properties>tools
I can't Review my updates because Windows updater won't start.
And what is this rebuild program you're talking about?

Re: Vista in total chaos

If you bought a PC with vista preinstalled then there is probably a recovery
partition (rebuild)

Naturally, because for one, you shouldn't 'run' so many updates at the same
time and under no circumstance do the error check on top of it. Hopefully
this will teach you a lesson and it wasn't Vista's fault either.
Your recovery partition is most likely on 'D' with about 10 GB's.
But Manny's suggestion should get you going.

Harry.
