    printing is very faded

When I print a page from Favorites or a page from Windows mail part of the
script is bright and part is a sort of faded gray and difficult to read.
How can I make all of the page print out in a bright script? I am running
Vista Home edition, using a Dell Laser 1710 printer.

Are *all* printed pages like that or only things printed from Mail or
Internet Explorer? If *all* pages are like that then this is probably a
hardware issue with the printer, not your computer. Check with Dell tech
support or look at their support pages for this printer. Usually these
inexpensive printers aren't worth doing the repair on since the parts would
    cost more than the printer.

OTOH, if the printing is bad *only* when printing from those two
    applications let us know.

Addendum: Of course you've checked the toner level, yes?

Yes, I did check the toner, it is good and usually all pages print out
evenly and brightly. The problem is for instance, is printing a page with a
photo or information about a product and then maybe the address for the
company will print out very faded but the rest of the page is normal.

So this only happens when using Internet Explorer and Windows Mail? Is the
printing issue in Mail on an actual message or when you click a link, hence
opening the link in IE? IE7 or IE8? Does the same issue happen if you use
    Firefox? IE in no-add-ons mode?

The First Question Of Troubleshooting: If the problem is new, what changed
between the time things worked and the time they didn't?

Thanks Malke, I do not know of any changes. This happens when I use
Internet Explorer and Firefox. Beyond that you have lost me, I am pretty
much a novice. Please explain "no-add-ons mode". The issue is not on a
message. It occurs when I have used Internet Explorer or Firefox to search
for a product and when I find the page with info on the product and I print
that page part of the printed information is faded. If I print it in color
with my ink jet printer all the information prints out brightly, but if I
print the page in black and white laser that is when part of the printing is
faded. Why does this only happen on the black and white laser printer. As
I stated I did check the toner on the laser printer, it is OK.

I honestly have no idea why this is happening. I suggest you post to the
    printing newsgroup, microsoft.public.windows.vista.print_fax_scan. Make
sure to include *all* the details in your first post. The alternative would
be to post on the Dell support forums or check with Dell tech support.

I'm sorry I was unable to help you.

As I read the thread, I am guessing that the conversion of a color page to
monochrome in various shades of grey produces an appearance that the OP
thinks is wrong, whereas it is really quite normal.

You're guess is as good as mine. No, make that "your guess is better than
mine" since I really have no idea. At least you have a logical explanation!
