Windows Vista - until when it will survive

Well, Windows 7 release is nigh, and of course Windows Vista will still be
supported, but until when? Well, I know that Windows XP will be ditched in
April 2014, when will Vista stop being supported?

Hi Naomi,

Microsoft, Product Support Lifecycle Policy is described here:

http://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifepolicy

The Support Lifecycle for Vista is here:

http://support.microsoft.com/lifecyc...3&y=7&p1=11707

There may be some minor variations, depending on the exact edition of Vista,
and which country you are located in.

Hope it helps,
Andrew

The full table for Vista is here:
http://support.microsoft.com/lifecycle/?C2=11732

Notice that only Business and Enterprise are scheduled to receive support
after 4/10/2012 when mainstream support ends. The Home editions, including
Ultimate, go completely out of support on that date. Business and
Enterprise will, however, receive five years of extended support, ending in
2017.

Seems like an oxy-moron - they barely support it now.

I don't have any issues with Microsoft's willingness to help me when I call
support. What is your issue with them?

I don't have an issue with the phone support, it's irrelevant for me.
I don't call it and don't plan to.

The issue is with the major problems in Vista that they have chosen to
ignore and not provide software updates to resolve.

Well... to be more accurate, they haven't ignored them, they know all
about them and have fixed them in Windows 7 and let them ride in
Vista.
