Vista Home BITS stopped working (Faulting app svchost.exe_BITS)

Hi
I am running Vista Home Basic Edition on 32bit operating system, Lenovo
ThinkPad R61 8919-A44 laptop.
SInce last few weeks every time I start my system I have the error
"BITS stopped working" and "Windows Host Process stopped working"
SO I looked upp for the solution online and even downloaded the file
BITS Repair Tool for Windows Vista (KB940520) but when i executed it says
BITS repair is not required currently
I have the following error log in my events

Faulting application svchost.exe_BITS, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp
0x4549adc4, faulting module ntdll.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp
0x4549bdc9, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x00043df3, process id
0x144c, application start time 0x01ca22f7a71682fb.

Can anyone suggest me what should i do

Thanks in advance for your help

Mohit
