Running RC2 5744 everything going well. Today both my CD rom and CDRW are
not shown by Vista and drivers not installed refuses to re-install, BIOS
still sees them both.
Anyone else had similar with RC2 and found a solution.

I'm probably belaboring the obvious here, but have you tried removing the
drives in Device Manager, then rebooting to let Vista "rediscover" the
hardware?
Or maybe - a physical disconnect > boot up > Power down > reconnect
drives > boot up and let Vista rediscover that way?

Basil:
If you've added any programs, uninstall them one at a time, reboot,
note the drives. AnyDVD is one program that will disable drives in Vista and
there are probably others that will have the same effect.

Had exactly the same problem on the RTM release after installing MSN Premium
Client V9.5.
Followed J6's pointer and deleted the LowerFilters key (no UpperFilters key
present). After reboot all was well!! Thanks J6!
