Don't even need to do it that way, you can set itup to run as admin every time. Just right click on the exwcute>properties>check the run as admin box--- Bingo- :-) Jeff :-) |

| Guest | Re: Ethereal (packet sniffer) It's definitely not covered by an NDA. And, as a free tool, it's pretty cool. I think I like its parsing and filtering better than ethereal, so far. That is, it hasn't crashed my machine yet, so far. What do you people think of it? -- Dave "Jeff" <S.Cerevesiae@umm.edu> wrote in message news:OJHzqkk$GHA.2192@TK2MSFTNGP02.phx.gbl... > CZ wrote: >> FYI: >> >> I am using WinPcap v4 beta1 and Ethereal v0.99 in Vista RC2 > OK > been there-doin that-lol > > Oh there's a NEW MSFT network protocol analyzer also. > It's on connect; FYI- and it isn't under a NDA-LOL > > Jeff :-) |

| Guest | Re: Ethereal (packet sniffer) DMB, Haven't played with it too much;yet. But it is nice; and it can get my wireless traffic too!!! :-) Jeff DMB wrote: > It's definitely not covered by an NDA. And, as a free tool, it's pretty > cool. Remember the beta is free, we will have to wait for the final release to know if that is also free. Ethereal has always been free. |

| Guest | Re: Ethereal (packet sniffer) Re: MS's new network protocol analyzer (Netmon v3 beta2) >> What do you people think of it? Dave: Per a quick review of it: Ethereal uses different colors for various protocols (facilitates reading the listed packets); apparently Netmon does not. Ethereal has extensive statistics info; apparently Netmon has none. I plan to continue with Ethereal. Also, if MS spent two years developing Netmon v3, I doubt that it will be free (Ethereal is free). |

The Ethereal network protocol analyzer has changed its name to Wireshark. Ethereal: http://www.ethereal.com/ Netmon 3 beta2: Currently, to download Microsoft Network Monitor 3.0, you need to be a Microsoft Connect user, and apply for the program under Available Connections section after you login to Microsoft Connect. http://connect.microsoft.com/ |
