opening pst file in Outlook 2003 in vista crashes program

I have just installed outlook 2003 in vista RC2 (build 5744). It runs
alright, apart from one thing.
I have got an old PST file that has saved emails and such. I wanted to open
it in outlook and import the saved emails.
In XP I had no problems opening the PST file in outlook, but in Vista if I
do the same thing Outlook crashes?

I wondered if any one has experienced the same thing and whether they
managed to sort it out.

Any help or advice would be gratefully accepted.

NIK

Have you tried setting up Outlook 2003 anyway, then copy the .PST file the
Outlook Local settings folder?

After that, turn on Show Hidden Files and Folders.

Re: opening pst file in Outlook 2003 in vista crashes program

I can do that, I just can't open the files in outlook.

Some of the things I have saved (contacts, calendar) have been saved as a
pst file and as such I can not restore those things.

Re: opening pst file in Outlook 2003 in vista crashes program

Is the latest Service Pack for Outlook/Office 2003 installed?

You might want to use the following tool to check if the .PST file is
damaged:
