| | Soundblaster Live! + Vista = NO SOUND My Soundblaster Live! card works with XP but when I boot thru Vista, it says NO AUDIO DEVICE IS INSTALLED and I get no sound. A "Multimedia Audio Controller" is detected by Vista however the driver installation programs (both Vista's and Creative's) do not recognize it as Soundblaster Live! So they never manage to install the drivers. Thx for trying to help. |

| | Re: Soundblaster Live! + Vista = NO SOUND My Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 WDM card works with Vista, infact, the driver is installed out of the box. Some of my devices and applications are not working, what should I do? You can do a couple things; check the manufacturer's website for patches, updated drivers or to simply find out about Vista support for the particular product. If your internet connection is working in Windows Vista, I suggest you try obtaining the drivers through Windows Update. Click Start > All Programs > Windows Update > Turn on Windows Update. A list of available updates will then be downloaded, you will have the option to view them, do so and check off the appropriate drivers or software patches you need and click Install. For software, if you are running Windows Vista x64, certain types of applications will not work; these include Win16 applications and Win32 applications that use Win16 installers. You can also try running the application in Compatibility mode to see if it will work (full 32-bit application applications supported). Right click the programs executable > click Properties > "Compatibility" tab > under "Compatibility Mode" check the Run this application in compatibility mode for: box > click in the list box and choose a suitable version of Windows. -- Andre Extended64 | http://www.extended64.com Blog | http://www.extended64.com/blogs/andre http://spaces.msn.com/members/adacosta "Gustavo" <Gustavo@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:EB812E73-8B30-47CE-9C4F-059E52563E22@microsoft.com... > My Soundblaster Live! card works with XP but when I boot thru Vista, it > says > NO AUDIO DEVICE IS INSTALLED and I get no sound. | | Re: Soundblaster Live! + Vista = NO SOUND Gustavo, You cannot install the SoundBlaster Live! software that comes with the Live card, it is not Vista compatible at this time. The card however is. Don't try to install the drivers off of the CD provided from CreativeLabs, just use the Native Vista ones. They do work fine. You may have to run Windows Update to get them, but they are out there and they do work fine. Bill F. Try different drivers - the ones on the CD-ROM - the ones for Vista off the Creative website - try the one for XP as well. Also instead of running any "install" routine, pop the CD in the drive - if autoplay starts something just turn it off. Then go to Device Manager, find the sound thing, right-click on it and select Properties and then have it update the drivers automatically .. it should search the CD and might pick up on working drivers. | | RE: Soundblaster Live! + Vista = NO SOUND Gustavo: Give these modded drivers a try. http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=F...&dwn_cat_id=20 Click on "Creative Modded Driver" and download the 23 megs file. | | Re: Soundblaster Live! + Vista = NO SOUND Also, If you are running a "Live! Value 5.1" (aka Dell or other OEM) neither XP nor Vista will consider it a "Live! 5.1" so drivers cannot be automatically installed. However if you update the driver manually and remove the check from "show compatible hardware" you will be able to choose the creative drivers. Ignore the message about them not matching your hardware and you'll be all set. Creative flips a bit in the chipset of OEM cards so that they are not detected as retail versions. This is the reason downloaded drivers for Creative retail cards will not install on OEM cards. They want you get drivers from the company that sold the system with the card in it. -Mike "Carlos" <Carlos@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:73039DC6-D915-4DB9-B8D3-6406B36CDE1D@microsoft.com... > Gustavo: > Give these modded drivers a try. > http://www.ngohq.com/home.php?page=F...&dwn_cat_id=20 > Click on "Creative Modded Driver" and download the 23 megs file. > Carlos > > "Gustavo" wrote: > >> My Soundblaster Live! card works with XP but when I boot thru Vista, it >> says >> NO AUDIO DEVICE IS INSTALLED and I get no sound.
