Vista - what type dvd used to burn vista ie. r-rw etc.

i have downloaded vista cannot burn to dvd, should i use a dvd-r or dvd-rw or
what

are you selecting ISO not just copy/burn software to burn DVD?

Make sure you are NOT burning the ISO as a data file. You need to choose the
option to burn an ISO image if you are using NERO or Roxio.

It doesn't matter, but as a general rule, don't use "RW" (rewriteable)
media for anything, ever, if you intend to keep it for any length of
time. Of course, since this is a beta/RC, you may very well only need
it for the next couple of weeks. [data recorded on RW media sometimes
"fades"]

Actually a good rw disc (finding one is the problem) is superior to +/-r
discs but with blu-ray/HD on the horizon it seems +/-r discs are getting
worse (not really a BR/HD problem as much as cutting costs and moving to
cheaper manufacturer/dye processes)... OTOH dvd discs have yet to be around
long enough to get the stability cdr disc have. But this is good for DVD
writer companies, as we all keep changing drives for that magic one that
burns all discs well, although it sucks for the consumer.

I don't know how you can say that (that "a good rw disc is superior to
+/-r discs". By definition, the dye on rw media has to be capable of
returning to a "blank" state, and there is tremendous evidence that it
frequently does this "on it's own", over time (the time may be a year or
two, but I've seen it in weeks). It may well be that this only happens
when it was "inadequately burned" (laser power on burner low), but that
doesn't change the fact that it happens, and it happens quite often.
I've dealt with too many people who have lost data on RW media. In this
regard, + or - format doesn't matter.
