What the heck?

I've been installed Windows Vista build 5384 and RC1, and I can easily get
the glass Aero with my ATI MOBILITY RADEON XPRESS 200 graphics card, but I
can't in Windows Vista RC2. What the heck is wrong? Which seem to be the
problem, me or Microsoft?

Re: What the heck?

You need to force it for RC2 depending on the amount of RAM you have
installed in the system:

Tip by Nero:
1/ Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges :

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

(to get Aero Glass in vista)

Re: What the heck?

Not unless its Direct 9 compliant and supports the WDDM driver model. XDDM
drivers will not work.

Re: What the heck?

Do you have the RC drivers from ATI?

https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...&folderID=5712

I would start here first, instead of resorting to registry hacks.
