Re: Computer Lockup

Have you checked your system messages in computer management?
Would try with your old memory and see if the problem goes away.
This is more likely a memory problem if you are using Vista64 than Vista32,
which are you using?

Computer Lockup

Twice in the past three days, my Gateway laptop has locked up entirely, with
the gadget clock stopping at the point of lockup, the gadget cpu meter
showing either 0 or 1%, and the keyboard and pad totally unresponsive. The
only thing I can do is shut down w/ the power button and reboot. Nothing
shows up in the "problem reports and solutions" window.
I replaced my memory earlier in the week, went from 1 to 2 gigs. Other than
the 2 lockups, everything has been running smoothly.
Is there any way to check if this is a software or a hardware problem?
Thanks, Drew

Re: Computer Lockup

Which build is this? RC1 or 2? Also, if you have PC Cillin AV utility
installed, remove it, its causing problems.

Re: Computer Lockup

Andre:
I agree with you fully, that PC-cillen has become a problem. My old
FX51 tower locked up for the first time and PC-cillen was the cause. I found
a beta version of NOD32 for Vista and it works the same as on x64, no
problems or extra load.

Re: Computer Lockup

Thanks for replying. I am running RC1 5600, 64 bit, with Avast anti-virus. I
have a Turion 64 x2 processor. Where can I find any system logs that might
point me in the right direction?
