| | Windows Vista Plain Splash Screen Ever since I've started using Windows Vista RC1 build 5600, the splash screen during startup that is shown displays no logo, only the progressbar (which I liked better on the XP startup, but anyway) that scrolls around, with a short copyright notice on the bottom. I haven't seen Vista on any other computer, but I'm assuming there hasn't been one made yet. Whatever the reason for not supplying this, I would really like to have a nicer splash screen at startup. I think I recall for Windows XP you had to patch a system file to change the startup screen. Is it stored as a single file anywhere, or is the splash screen stored as a resource in some system dll? If so, is it digitally signed, and can I change it..? Basically, is there any way to change this screen to be a little 'nicer'? I just want to see something when it's loading, that's all. If it involves more than simply changing a file or resources of a file, then it's probably not worth doing yet. Thanks for any information in advance, - Aaron Lindsay |

| | Re: Windows Vista Plain Splash Screen I'm sure this will change for launch and it will probably be hackable at some point but really why worry about it? It's there for such a short time and that time is usually when you go grab a cup of coffee or a beer :-) "Aaron Lindsay" <AirHead3.0@gmail.com> wrote in message news:eb8zH3PAHHA.3536@TK2MSFTNGP03.phx.gbl... > Ever since I've started using Windows Vista RC1 build 5600, the splash > screen during startup that is shown displays no logo, only the progressbar > (which I liked better on the XP startup, but anyway) that scrolls around, > with a short copyright notice on the bottom.
