Rating Bug?

I have a Radeon 9600 256MB card, 512MB RAM and a P4 HT 3.0GHz.

Vista has rated my graphic card with 1.0 making me base score 1.0. With this
score it's impossible to use Aero.

What seams to be the problem? I have tried ATI's RC1 and RTM/RC2 drivers and
updated the score but nothing. The Score doesn't change.

Any sugestions?

PS: Sorry about any error. English is not my primary language.

RE: Rating Bug?

Hi,
It's not the card it's the fact that you only have 512Mb of memory. Try this:

1/ Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges :

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

RE: Rating Bug?

Paul is correct. By default we disable desktop composition on systems with
512 Mb of RAM.

This can be overridden by choosing the Windows Aero color scheme in Control
Panel > Personalization > Window Color and Appearance > Open Classic
Appearance Properties for More Color Options.
