Vista - Aero Glass not present

I installed Rc2 but the windows aero glass and flip 3d features are not
present..I checked that in the welcome screen in order to get those features
the VGA card must be wdm or somthing like that validated.Well i have a 7600gt
and it isn't...Could it be beause of the drivers i use or something else? I
have checked the control panel fro themes and preferences but no windows aero
glass present only aero basic.

Check out Performance Information and Tools in Control Panel and get back to
us. See what your benchmark scores are for graphics and try Adjust Visual
Effects in the left hand Task Pane.

1) Exactly what card do you mean by 7600 GT made by whom for Nvidia?

2) Drivers matter for the cards. Some work better than others; some lock
up.

3) RC2 X86 or X64?

4) WDM refers not to the card but to the Windows Driver Model required:

5) If you aren't sure what driver model to select, you can probably call the
Tech Support for that card toll free 24X7 and unlike most Tech support by
phone, particularly MSFT 's crappy Convergys of Ohio in India contract,
they're good and they can tell you the preferred driver.

6) It might help to do the regedit that forces Aero. Set a restore point
first.

Ensure that you have the following registry value set to :

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\Composition set to 1 (32-bit DWORD)

HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\DWM\CompositionPolicy set to 2 (32-bit
DWORD)

2/ Restart DWM by opening a command prompt with administrative privileges

- Type 'net stop uxsms'
- Then 'net start uxsms'

I had Aero Glass with build 5728 but it disappeared when I installed 5744.
The performance on my video card dropped from 2.9 to 2.0 with build 5744. I
updated with Nvidia's latest drivers but still no Aero and the rating is
still at 2.0

Vista Sometimes turns Aero off permanently so go into Services and make sure
that the Desktop Window Manager Service is set to Automatic and started.

Can I have a little more help as to where to find "services" I cant find it
in Vista? Thanx GWB

Ahhh found services, and it came from my memory, restarted the DWS manager
and Aero works a treat, gee its buggy though Aero! Hope it gets sorted soon.

I don't have issues with Aero. I'm pretty amazed at how well it works,
especially compared to how it did in the betas. Window Media videos have a
performance issue, though.
