1400 x 900 resolution

Hi

Yesterday I installed the final release of Vista, first the 64 bit and
then the 32 bit.

Both work fine except that I can't get my monitor to go into 1400 x
900 resolution. This is default setting for my 19" widescreen monitor
and just looks clearer and better than other res.

Its a Packard Bell 190W Maestro. Graphics card is a Gforce 6600 GT.
Installed the latest graphic card drivers but just nothing about 1200
x ##.

Any ideas. Back to XP at the moment.

Best regards.

Rich

Re: 1400 x 900 resolution

nVidia's current beta driver does not support this resolution.
How about the native RTM drivers?
I believe there are a couple of 3rd party apps that will allow you to set this resolution.
(Something like Res Changer -- available on EVGA's site -- or something like Power Bar -- sorry I'm
not really sure about the exact program names.)

Re: 1400 x 900 resolution

Microsoft has not yet released Vista RTM to the public.
If you obtained it from a third-party source, I would
be quite suspect of its integrity.

It is illegal to download Microsoft operating systems
from non-sanctioned web sites!

Re: 1400 x 900 resolution

Loads of people have it and it IS the exact same version that has gone to
RTM.

Re: 1400 x 900 resolution

I may be mistaken, apologies if so, but it does not really matter what
number of people "have it".

What does matter is: did they obtain it legally and with consent of the
copyright holder?

Whatever your lame excuse or silly rational, it is still illegal!

Q: what is one's integrity worth?

A: A bootleg bit of software?

Re: 1400 x 900 resolution

It's 1440x900 not 1400x900.

Re: 1400 x 900 resolution

Try this -- If your monitor has a NON-DVI port and your video card has a
NON-DVI port, try that.

I noticed my standard VGA port could get 1440x900 in Vista, but
unfortunately, I had two monitors I wanted to use at the time and one of
them (not the widescreen) only had a VGA port.

Re: 1400 x 900 resolution

No good ideas, sorry. I have the same problem with my 1360x768 LCD, I can
hack the registry in
HKeyCurrentConfig/System/CurrentControlSet/Control/Video for a temporary
fix, but it gets reset eventually.

I have a GeForce 7300GS
