| | Explorer.exe was stopped with task manager, now computer won't log on Hi All, I stopped explorer.exe (unintentionally) via Task Manager, so then tried to restart my computer. It boots to the "Welcome" screen and then goes to a screen which says, "Configuring Updates, 3 of 3 -0%." This screen just hangs for a minute and then my computer restarts itself and the cycle repeats endlessly, as long as I leave my computer on. I have tried all the F screens (F1, etc.) to run diskchecks, to restore, to load Safe Mode, etc. Is there a way to run explorer.exe from the command prompt? Any ideas are more than I have! | | Re: Explorer.exe was stopped with task manager, now computer won't log on For future reference, under the File menu in the task manager is an option to start a program. It's called "New Task (Run)". In your case, typing explorer.exe in the box and hitting enter would have gotten it running again.
