| | Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the product It’s been a long road helping Micro$oft beta test Vi$ta. I've been doing it since it was called Longhorn. I have submitted Just under a dozen bug reports. I have installed and uninstalled it more times than I care to remember in my zeal and enthusiasm. I have believed in this product when no one else did. When I hear that Micro$oft is giving away 'complimentary' copies only to MSDN and TechNet subscribers I felt as if someone had slapped my face. So, just because I tested Vi$ta VIA the customer preview program I am screwed out of my gift? I feel I have earned a copy. You mean, because I did not pay Micro$oft a $600.00 subscription fee to beta test and better their software I am beneath their notice? This is typical of a large, bloated, corporate monster that does not care one iota about the people who made them their most precious $$$. This proves that Micro$oft does not have a heart, all they care about is money. ---------------- This post is a suggestion for Microsoft, and Microsoft responds to the suggestions with the most votes. | | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the product No originally invented TechBeta participant had to pay a single cent to Microsoft Corporation. Customer Preview Program ( btw. there was no CPP at the time the project was called Longhorn .. ) gave you the ability to test-drive a brand new OS months before usual users would even know the name or the design. You have been given the right to use for no fee or payment the Release Candidates until a time when Vista will long be available in every store. Now why are you complaining ? Become a TechBeta Participant for a different Microsoft product by visiting connect.microsoft.com and look under available programs, send in your reports and see if you do qualify over the years for something big like a OS. It's not all about luck. It's real reward for real work. I too would have loved a different policy for the CPPs that have made use of the bug-reporting-tool to be fair, but hey... | | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the product Wow, Ok first off Microsoft has not given MSDN or Technet Subscribers anything. They purchased it. Those programs aren't free. The Technical Beta participants who have been in this program FAR FAR longer than the CPP has even been around do much much more than just file a couple of bugs. They are responsible for feature focus testing each week. They have to rebuild there systems far more often than someone in the CPP who only got 2 downloads. Now I agree that this program certainly helps and I am sure that Microsoft appreciates the testing, but is it the same level of commitment that was put in by the Tech Beta participants...NO WAY. -- Josh http://windowsconnected.com "Jon Acord" <JOn@theacords.biz> wrote in message news:53678CBE-647E-45B3-A516-7B6548691DF8@microsoft.com... > It’s been a long road helping Micro$oft beta test Vi$ta. | | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the product Ben, Ben , Ben, Right, Maybe you did not understand my original post...CPP testers have provided valuable work as well. We are just are deserving of a reward as you are. We have helped Micro$oft test and develop the product. WHY should ANYONE pay to test Alpha and beta software? Thats absurd...REAL testing my friend is hard work. Program compatibility, crashes, hardware and so on. You clearly have not a clue. I worked hard, tested Longhorn and every single version of Vista, so just shut up. | | Re: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the product Josh, Josh, Josh, MSDN and Technet subscribers are paying a FEE $$$ to Microsoft. Thats the ONLY reason they get a copy, and CPP users do not. Because I put ALOT of hard work in on testing LH and Vista. so don't tell me its fair!!!!!! | | RE: Unfair to Beta Testers who worked hard to better the product No one was 'Promised' a copy. The FACT is that CPP users who did alot of hard work are being tretaed like 2nd class citizens by Micro$ot...we are Just as deserving as recognition as anyone else. I tested Vista for years and faithfully submitted bug reports. But, because I have not payed a ridiculous $600.00 fee to be an MSDN Subscriber Micro$oft chooses to ignore me. That is unfair and biased. They have no heart.
