Vista - Vista Swap File?

I just did do it - and lived without nary an error message. Actually I'm
not surprised. Any system will be faster if it doesn't swap to disk. Of
course if you have many applications open at the same time it wouldn't be
advisable - even 4GB of memory could not run memory hogs at the same time.
But for now I'm quite happy and will boot to XP x64 (and of course reboot
because of a new "device" - then I can use PerfectDisk to defrag X64 (but
NOT Vista - they are waiting for release - only experimental version for 32
bit). I could download a trial of diskeeper but I've been with PerfectDisk
for many years because Raxco has some of the best support I've ever
encountered.

That's because regardless of it being XP or Vista, the OS still will uses a
"swap"file if needed and even Vista uses a swap file.
Imagine bunging the ram up with programs and whatever...........you soon run
out.
I have never had a problem in disk wear and tear because of a swap file.
I have a 3Gb partition(for pagefile) on a different drive to the OS and it
never gets all used.
IF the "swapfile"is on the same drive as the OS then it can slow things down
some.
If on a seperate drive then there is no problem.
