Vista - Access denied while deleting Windows.old

I am getting "You need permission to perform this action" pop up box and tell
my Try again while I delete Windows.old folder. I clicked "Try again"
botton, it will go through Recycling items as if it is deleting but the same
dialog box prompt for Try again. How can I delete the Windows.old folder?

You have to take ownership of it. Right-click on the folder, click on the
Properties menu choice, click the Security tab, click the Advanced button,
click the Owner tab. Your name should appear in the bottom box. Click the
Edit button then a dialog will pop up. Click Continue. Now click your name
in the list, then click OK.

Right click the folder > click Properties > Security > Advanced > Owner >
Edit (click continue on UAC dialog) > check "Replace owner on subcontainers
and objects". > OK > OK > OK

Try deleting again, if that does not work, restart in Safe mode and try
again.
