| | NVidia Card Recognition I just got my Alienware laptop with a NVidia GeForce Go 7600. I installed Vista Ultimate RTM. The system doesn't see the card, all I get in the device manager under Display adapters is 'Standard VGA Graphics Adapter'. Then I try to install any NVidia vista drivers the installation program says it can't find any devices that are applicable. What am I missing? Please help, I am definately not a hardware guy. |

You're not missing anything - it is, unfortunately, Vista which is missing decent nVidia GeForce drivers. Do a search for nVidia in this newsgroup... |

| | Re: NVidia Card Recognition Same thing on my laptop ASUS A6J with label "Vista capable", equipped with a GeForce 7300 Go, I asked ASUS, they answered I had nothing to complain before Vista is made public. -- Paulchen "Mark Rae" <mark@markNOSPAMrae.com> a écrit dans le message de news: OTcw00OFHHA.420@TK2MSFTNGP06.phx.gbl... > "Matt B" <matt_bezanson@hotmail.com> wrote in message > news:406D640F-E2A1-42AE-8263-AA23D7EDE5CE@microsoft.com... > >>I just got my Alienware laptop with a NVidia GeForce Go 7600. | | Re: NVidia Card Recognition nVidia has not released a set of drivers with proper support for any card/adapter in the GO family. Windows Update should pick up a set of updated drivers soon after install that are better, but still not quite there yet. -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Shell/User] rgharper@gmail.com * NEW! | | RE: NVidia Card Recognition Hello Matt, If you don't want to wait for official drivers, I suggest you go to this website: http://www.laptopvideo2go.com/ NVidia does not give proper support for their Go series notebook cards. They state that it is the OEM responsibility to provide the updated drivers. If you try to download and install drivers from NVidia web site, the install will fail, as it will detect that your card is not supported. The information on supported cards liest in a .inf file. The above site provides modified .inf files and simple instructions on how you can install the latest drivers (official and beta) on your notebook. I have done this in mine with Vista since RC1 and it is working fantastic. My graphics performance score jumped from a 1 to a 3. My card is a Fx 5700 Go.
