Fast User Switching

Downloaded all headers. Searched on "user switching" and found two posts
from a while back... (also checked admin_accts_pws NG... no luck there
either)

Anyone know how to disable fast user switching?

Thanks,

Lang

Re: Fast User Switching

As far a I can tell, you CAN'T -- not even as the administrator.

Re: Fast User Switching

Well I guess that's the first thing I -really- don't like in Vista.

You can't disable fast user switching, but if you wanted to do so for
security reasons, you can edit the local security policy under admin
tools. There you should be able to do whatever it is you want for user
security.

If you tell us what it is you want to do, we might be able to help you
with the settings.

Re: Fast User Switching

Well, quite simply, I don't want fast user switching available. If more than
one user is logged on, the system reserves RAM for those logged on and I
want to force every user to log off, not switch to another session.

Re: Fast User Switching

I want to disable Fast user switching myself. This was so simple to do in
the past by unchecking a simple checkbox. I am the only user on my pc, and I
don't want to waste valuable resources with this "resource hog called Vista".
I have searched the local security policy and can find no way to disable it.

I found this in another thread & saved it for when my Vista test &
evaluation machine arrives. Hope it helps, but I've not tested it so
report back with results if you don't mind.

RE: Fast User Switching

I did some research and found this:

Disabling Fast User Switching in Windows Vista

Click Start, type GPEDIT.MSC and press Enter
Go to the following location:

Local Computer Policy | Administrative Templates | System | Logon

Set the Policy Hide entry points for Fast User Switching to Enabled
Quit the Group Policy Editor.

By enabling the policy, Administrators hide the Switch user button in the
Logon UI, the Start menu and the Task Manager. Note that the Group Policy
Editor does not exist in certain editions of Windows Vista. Alternately, you
can configure the setting via the registry.
