no DX 10 supported driver on first DX10 supported card

I bought a brand new 8800 GTX with a big smile on my face..
Its the first GPU which supports the new DX10 in vista as you know..
opened the box..but no vista driver there!!
no DX support because of the driver..
checked the site on Leadtek..
NO SUPPORT PAGE ABOUT 8800 GTX!!
NO DRIVER PAGE ABOUT 8800 GTX!!
I e-mailed them and they give me
"We cannot give any information about non existing drivers" BS..

I mean..Whatta heck!!

Zax.

Re: no DX 10 supported driver on first DX10 supported card

There are no FULL non beta Nvidia drivers for ANY cards yet.
Why?
because Vista is not even due out til next year.
Vista has a basic Nvidia driver in RTM and very basic at that.
There is no reason for companies to release drivers for an OS that is not on
sale to the public yet.
That is their choice and that is that.
Did you ever see any card on sale with XP drivers(Nvidia) when Windows XP
was still a year away from being on sale?
Drivers for Nvidia cards are from Nvidia and not whoevers name is on the
card.
Only thing Nvidia on a card is the chipset/GPU.

Re: no DX 10 supported driver on first DX10 supported card

Yes.. but there are beta vista drivers all over..
It would be nice to put even a beta driver since they built the card..
At least on their drivers site..
But no go on leadtek.. and no go on nvidia..
Isn't that weird?
zax.

What was their response when you asked about Vista drivers BEFORE you bought
the card?

Er... It's out now. Actually it's been out for 3 weeks to MSDN and Voume
Licence subscribers like me.

Tell me about it.

Oh, I see... Business customers are expected to write their own?

It is, and that is why it sucks. It also the reason I'm sending my 7900GTO
back, and using the X1950Pro that I have just bought.

True. In this case, I wouldnt blame Leadtek.

Well, infect I do!..
On my cards box there is a logo says "VISTA READY"..
and another logo says "DX10 Compatible"
and another logo says "LEADTEK"

I is not vista ready, there is no DX10 (yet)..
and the manufacturer is REALTEK

So I would blame LEADTEK

ARGH!!...I want my driver...

PS: You guys have a point tho..but..I DON'T want to understand...
PS2: I even had a dream of this card

Re: no DX 10 supported driver on first DX10 supported card

Nvidia do not build the cards.
The chips on the card are Nvidia.

Re: no DX 10 supported driver on first DX10 supported card

1.Cards are not made by Nvidia, they are Nvidia CHIP based cards to use
with Nvidia drivers for whatever OS.
2.Cards come with a driver/software disk that can either contain branded
drivers that are still based on Nvidia drivers.
3.It is up to whoever makes the cards/brands the cards to include or not
include drivers.
4. Like I said before, the company who's name is on the card and box do not
have to include a "vista"Nvidia driver.
5.Vista ready means just that, it does not mean at this time the card will
work as Vista is NOT on sale til next year.
On sale in the stores that means.
The fact that certain versions of Vista are out now or will be out before
next year does not matter.
