VMware Server no USB

On Vista RTC, VMware Server (most recent version 1.0.1 build 29996)
sometimes does not show the available USB devices as available for the
virtual machines. Anyway, even if it shows them, it never assigns a
selected USB device to the VM. On XP, the same version of VMware Server
works well.
Many thanks for all advice, Thomas
