KRK,
I am assuming you are using Vista's Windows Mail and not Windows Live
Mail.
Your contacts are under c:\users\<username>\contacts
I do not recommend changing this since you are using Vista's Windows
Mail, you can always use a sync tool to sync the contacts to your E:\
drive on a daily basis. Someone else may have a better option for you,
but if you ever need to use Windows Easy Transfer or the like I have
learned in the past to leave the contacts folder alone. You can also
backup your contacts from Windows Mail, or just copy the contacts. Each
contact is an individual file.
To backup contacts: Under Windows Mail. Go to FILE > EXPORT and choose
Windows Contacts. Select .CSV (Comma Separated Values) and pick the
destination.
As for your messages, that is a bit easier. Your messages are stored in
C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows Mail.
You can change the location of where your messages are stored by
opening Windows Mail.
First: Make the folder on your E:\ drive where you want to store your
messages.
Then go into Windows Mail.
Go to TOOLS > OPTIONS.
Click on the Advanced Tab.
Click the Maintenance Button (down right)
Click Store Folder Button.
It will show you where your messages are currently stored.
(Make note of the location. You may need to copy the files from here...
In reality you should make a backup copy of this folder before
proceeding.)
Change the location to the folder you created on E:\
Now click the CHANGE button.
That should be it, as long as Vista did not get too confused.
Regards,
Credo
