Vista - Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

I have a Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000.

When I installed Vista RC2 (both x86 and x64) drivers for the microphone
were installed and worked properly. But, no camera.

A few weeks ago Windows Update downloaded LOGICOOL drivers, and
the camera started working in Messenger.

I downloaded the new Logitech Vista drivers and installed them. Logitech
software and Messenger worked perfectly. However, now every time I boot
into either Vista x86 or Vista x64, I get the Found New Hardware dialogue,
if I let it automatically install the drivers everything works again. If I dismiss
the dialogue, I have no microphone.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Logitech drivers, but I still get
the Found New Hardware dialogue every time I boot up.

Does anyone have any suggestions on how I can correct this?

It might help to check the registry some files or components may not be
properly registered

Re: Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

Thank you.

If it would not be too much trouble, would you please tell me
how to do that (check the registry)? Or point me to a KB article
or web site that might help?

Re: Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

To get into the registry just type "regedit" in the run command
press "ctrl F" that will bring up the search window then you can type
"logitech" that will find all entries related to your webcam
from there I guess you need to start looking for anything out of the
ordinary
I'm not sure what you should be looking for you'd need to do a web search
through google and see what it brings up.
I'll have a look for you and see what I can find

Re: Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

Thank you.

I've used regedit before, and frankly it scares me to death -- especially all those
obscure -- base 16, I guess -- entries that I have no idea what they mean. Mostly
I've just used the RUN key in HKLM.

I looked for Logicool in the list of Windows Updates to see if I could uninstall
them, but they were not listed there. Curious that I have not heard of anyone
else that got this Logicool update.

Re: Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

It sounds like it's not installing properly have you tried installing it
with UAC turned off ?

Re: Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

No. Will try that. Thank you.

Shouldn't worry about it much anyway. The driver install only takes about 5 seconds.
But it is annoying, and I have to change my default microphone whenever I want to
use it. And these pre-release Vista installs are only to play around with, and experiment
with anyway. They'll get wiped when the retail version arrives. I keep XP to get any
real work done. A great opportunity to find out what works and what doesn't before
installing the final version. I'm getting acclimated to the new interface too (except for
the scrolling on the START menu).

Thanks again.

Re: Logitech Quickcam Pro 5000

Well I do have a couple of months to play with it anyway.
Also, I just noticed that in Vista there is a new option in the
Drivers tab of the Properties Dialogue to Remove Driver
Files. That might work before I try a new reinstall.

Thanks again.
