| | Messenger 5.1 shuts down Hello We are using Windows Messenger 5.1 as internal Messenger at our company with SIP Communications. We recently upgraded some of our computers to Windows Vista and now encounter some problem concerning the Messenger as follows: Every time when the message window fills up, the scrollbar should pop up so you can read what you typed before. But when that occurs, the messenger simply shuts down and all messages are gone. Does anyone here have an idea why this is happening? This is what is written to the Eventlog. Log Name: Application Source: Application Error Date: 07.12.2006 13:17:49 Event ID: 1000 Task Category: (100) Level: Error Keywords: Classic User: N/A Computer: vistariedl2.domain.com Description: Faulting application Msmsgs.exe, version 5.1.0.701, time stamp 0x431630e8, faulting module kernel32.dll, version 6.0.6000.16386, time stamp 0x4549bd80, exception code 0xc0000005, fault offset 0x0004fcac, process id 0x5a0, application start time 0x01c719f4e67ae839. best regards Florian Riedl Adiscon |

| | Re: Messenger 5.1 shuts down Messenger 5.1 is no longer supported by microsoft.. they are pushing another technology. So you are trying to install it on vista.... and vista is crap. The mvp Jonathan Kay will explain this better to you if you go to the windows.live.messenger newsgroup. | | Re: Messenger 5.1 shuts down Sorry, but that does not solve my problem. I cannot use MSN Messenger 7.5 because it is not able to do SIP communications with Exchange 2003. If there was a IM program that is capable to do this ... Thank you anyway for your answer.
