| | VISTA RTM sleep/hibernation problem Has anyone else had problems trying to get Vista RTM to return from sleep or hibernate states? I've got two Vista machines that have been upgraded from XP Pro SP2 to Vista (one to Business and the other to Ultimate). Neither of these will reliably return from either sleep (S1 or S3) or Hibernate. Both of these properly slept/hibernated under XP. Stuart. ----------- |

| | Re: VISTA RTM sleep/hibernation problem Also had this problem with earlier builds of Vista using a MS USB Comfort Optical Mouse 3000 which was finally fixed with an optional update. Hope this helps. | | Re: VISTA RTM sleep/hibernation problem I'm running Vista RTM using the latest beta of the MS Mouse/Keyboard software for Vista. I suppose the problem could be related to the IntelliPoint/Type (V6.01) software. | | Re: VISTA RTM sleep/hibernation problem I see the final release of these drivers is now posted on the MS Hardware site. I'll try these to see if it makes any difference. | | Re: VISTA RTM sleep/hibernation problem You might say what the problem is. When I return from sleep, sometimes the screen is frozen and hard shutdown is all that is available. Other times there are various problems with software that doesn't function properly or hardware that reports that it isn't installed in USB2 but is, etc. Not very functional for me. | | RE: VISTA RTM sleep/hibernation problem Yup, I've had some problems with resuming from sleep and hibernate on a Dell laptop where those things worked fine in XP. The major issue is that the wireless network will never reconnect, and the only fix I've found is to reboot the machine. | | Re: VISTA RTM sleep/hibernation problem I've got two Dell machines running Vista (one Ultimate, one Business). The one running Ultimate is a Dimension 4600C and it rarely returns from Sleep mode. It does however seem to work properly in Hibernate mode. The other is a Precision 650 workstation and it won't return from either Sleep or Hibernate. Both worked fine in these modes in XP Pro SP2. Both were upgraded. Stuart. --------- "John Barnes" wrote: > You might say what the problem is. When I return from sleep, sometimes the > screen is frozen and hard shutdown is all that is available. | | Re: VISTA RTM sleep/hibernation problem I have found my Precision 670 actually returns from sleep much better under Vista than XP. It would always be sluggish on XP after sleep but with Vista after sleep system response is like it would be on first boot up. On rare occasion I have had problems with USB during sleep. Both my mouse and keyboard are USB (wireless) and they sometimes won't wake the computer. I've found though that if I change the power button to put the system to sleep and I encounter this problem I can hit the power button and either the system will reboot as if it had lost power (and resume from hibernation) or go back to sleep again and then the mouse\keyboard can wake the system. This is on Vista RC2 x64.
