| | wmp11 "ran out of Memory" error code C00D11C6 Running wmp 11 on Windows Vista RC1 Build 5600 on a Media Center Pentium4. Upon inserting a video DVD in the player a ran out of memory error code C00D11C6 message pops up. <HELP> offers no real help for this. Memory is 1GB and this error occurs after a cold reboot before starting any other programs. Have not experienced memory problems previously. Task Manager indicates more than 66% Physical memory available with remiang 33% attributed to backgrouind programs. WMP10 and previous versions did not bring on this error. Help will be greatly appreciated, thanx |

| | RE: wmp11 "ran out of Memory" error code C00D11C6 The issue is not with WMP, but with the MPEG-2 codecs that are needed for DVD playback. The reason for this behavior is that the "trial period" on MPEG-2 codecs needed for MCE/DVD playback/burn has expired around 11/15/06 in Vista RC1 (I assume you are running Vista RC1). Using Vista RC2 (or RTM if you can get a handle on it) is the right solution for now. However, they also expire around 4th January '07. The codecs in final Vista release do not have such an expiration. | Vista Business x86 | Re: wmp11 "ran out of Memory" error code C00D11C6 This is not an issue with the MPEG2 Decoder. I have tried several different decoders and the same error keeps occuring. I even disabled superfetch to make sure this wasn't a memory error, but I am still having the same problem as mftr. Heck, I even disable access control in order to make sure everything ran as an admin. Still, it doesn't work. Worse yet, Media Player doesn't appear to even try. Microsoft doesn't seem to have a clue, either. If you click on web help it shows only that there is no known solution. What's more, media player 11 for XP seems to work fine. I finally gave up and ran VLC. It isn't limited just to DVD's either. Certain types of streaming video seem to trigger the error as well. This is a huge short coming on Microsoft's end. I run Vista Business 32-bit, by the way. At the time of this posting Vista is already in service pack 1. A problem that has existed since RC1 should have been resolved by now. I'm totally baffled by this problem. There doesn't appear to be any other explanation than a coding error in media player itself. |
